Almost 20 commoners confirmed dead after a Sunni- Militant group allegedly suicide Bomb Blast in a fruit market this Friday on the Western Capital of Balochistan this Friday.
The target of the bombing was the City’s Hazarganji’s district which is home to a lot of Shia Muslim community from Hazara. Quetta’s Deputy Inspector General of Police, Razzaq Cheema, told CNN.
Bomb Blast at Pakistani Market:
Senior security personnel and almost 7 were confirmed dead, explained by Cheema.
In a news conference, Ziaullah Langove, home minister for Balochistan, confirmed the attack and counted the death toll, the attack was claimed suicidal. Additionally, Langove confirmed that almost around 48 persons were injured in the attack.
Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, a Sunni- militant group accepted the responsibility of the attack and claimed the suicide bombing was attempted by them.
“The attack was done by us, we claim ourselves responsible of attack” exclaims Qari Saifullah, the leader of the militant group, “The premises of the attack was only the Hazara Shia community” He further added.
Quetta is the Capital of Pakistan’s western province and is the center of terrorist activity in the region. It has been largely targeted by extremists militant groups. However, it is the first attack that took place this year for the first time.
“We will not bow down before terrorists anymore” Balochistan’s chief minister, Jam Kamal, said in a statement soon after the bombing took place in the province’s capital.
Prime Minister Imran Khan took the issue seriously and explained his agony in the tweet.
In December 2017, an attack took place on the Christian community in a church causing a death toll of 7 at that time. A few months later, another attack took place in the city, causing the death of around 6 police officers and leaving 8 injured.
