Research Claims that Facebook Plays a Significant part in Improving the Mental Health

Facebook and mental health; (Liberal Tribune) – It is a public theory that Social Media platforms, especially Facebook, harmfully influence the mental health of people. Besides, Facebook’s new outrages have only induced privacy worries in its users. Though, new research claims that such kinds of platforms have a positive outcome on an adult’s mental health.

Research showed last year revealed that devoting around 30 minutes regularly on social media could progress mental health.

Also, a lecturer of media and info at Michigan State University called Keith Hampton also calculated the effects of using Facebook, on grownups.

Conferring to the National Institute of Mental Health, about 50 million US adults hunt from a certain type of mental sickness such as anxiety, depression, etc.

Professor Keith supposes that the reason why earlier studies showed on the results of Social Media on mental health produced negative outcomes is that they were placed on young people and students already suffering stress and other sensitive issues.

Prof. Hampton composed survey results of uncountable adults who contributed in the Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID) in 2015 and 2016, concerning the use of social media especially Facebook and its effects on their mental health.

The PSID was created in such a way that it developed easier to recognize if and how members were associated with each other. In mutually 2015 and 2016, about 5,100 people took the review and out of those, 3,790 had lengthy family members taking the review as well.
